The Southeastern High Speed Extended route is a prominent feature in the Train Sim World series, available for Train Sim World 3 and as an add-on for Train Sim World 4 and 5. It offers a blend of high-speed intercity and conventional commuter and freight operations.
Route Overview
- Length: The extended route is 89 miles (143 km) long.
- Sections: It incorporates Britain’s only high-speed railway, High Speed 1 (HS1), running from London St Pancras International to Ashford International, as well as the conventional North Kent and Chatham Main Lines that link Dartford and Faversham.
- Technical Details: The HS1 section uses 25 kV AC overhead electrification with TVM signalling. The conventional lines use 750 V DC third-rail power and traditional signalling, providing the unique gameplay challenge of managing power changes on the dual-voltage BR Class 395 Javelin train.
Included Rolling Stock
The extended route typically features a variety of trains:
- BR Class 395 EMU (Javelin): Britain’s fastest domestic train, capable of 140 mph (225 km/h) on HS1.
- BR Class 375/9 EMU (Electrostar): Used for commuter services on the conventional lines.
- BR Class 465/9 EMU (Networker): Another commuter EMU used for services between Medway, Gravesend, and Dartford.
- BR Class 66 Diesel Locomotive: Included for freight operations, working in and out of Hoo Junction.
