The West Cornwall Local is a scenic route add-on for the Train Sim World series, developed by Rivet Games. The expansion offers a historical British Rail experience set in the early 1990s, allowing players to operate authentic passenger and freight services along the picturesque Cornish coastline.

Route Overview

The add-on features 44 miles (70 km) of the UK rail network, including:

  • Cornish Main Line: Stretching from Penzance to St Austell.
  • St Ives Bay Line: A scenic branch line that connects the main line at St Erth to the coastal town of St Ives.

The simulation accurately depicts the British Rail “sectorisation” era, featuring period-accurate signage, signalling, and rolling stock.

Included Rolling Stock

Players can utilize classic British diesel trains and wagons:

  • BR Class 150/2: Used for local passenger services, finished in the Regional Railways livery.
  • BR Class 37/5: In Railfreight Grey livery, used for hauling heavy freight loads over the hills.
  • YCV ‘Turbot’ and YGB ‘Seacow’ wagons: Specific engineering wagons included for freight scenarios.

Gameplay and Features

  • Extensive Timetable: The add-on provides an immersive 24-hour timetable with a variety of scheduled services.
  • Scenarios and Journey Mode: Features five detailed scenarios and a Journey Mode offering more than 24 hours of curated activities.
  • TSW Compatibility: As “TSW Compatible” content, the route can generally be used across multiple core games (e.g., Train Sim World 34, and 5) without significant feature changes.
