The Southeastern High Speed route is a popular add-on featured in multiple entries of the Train Sim World series, including the most recent Train Sim World 5. It uniquely combines Britain’s only high-speed railway (HS1) with traditional commuter lines in London and Kent, offering a diverse set of rail operations.
Route Details
The current, extended version of the route spans 89 miles (143 km):
- High Speed One (HS1): A thrilling 140 mph (225 km/h) section using overhead electrification and advanced TVM in-cab signalling, connecting London St Pancras International to Ashford International via Stratford International and Ebbsfleet International.
- Conventional Lines: Classic third-rail electrified lines run through the Medway towns and North Kent, linking to the high-speed section and serving destinations like Dartford and Faversham.
Included Trains
The add-on typically includes a variety of authentic rolling stock for different services:
- BR Class 395 EMU “Javelin”: Britain’s fastest domestic train, in Southeastern Highspeed livery, for high-speed runs on HS1.
- BR Class 375/9 EMU: A modern commuter train operating main-line services.
- BR Class 465/9 EMU “Networker”: An older commuter EMU used for metro-style services.
- BR Class 66 Diesel Locomotive: A common freight locomotive utilized for engineering and aggregate trains from the Hoo Junction area.
